During the course of a development professional’s career, the time will come when you are raising funds and providing services and support to individuals different from you. To be successful at both, it is critical to learn how to navigate those differences with respect, understanding and pragmatism. In this session, we will share an approach collaboratively developed that engages all parties, navigates practical challenges, and maintains the ultimate organization’s ultimate goals

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to evaluate the differences within the communities being served
  • Determine how to assess the skills and abilities within your organization to be of value
  • Identify various tools to implement that incorporate and honor cultural differences
  • Understand systems of continual evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the tools implemented

  • Amy Wolfe, MPPA, CFRE

    Amy Wolfe is a partner in Mujeres Poderosas, a collaboration of hard-working, determined and passionate women sharing their collective wisdom for the betterment of non-profit organizations. Her career includes tenure serving as Interim Executive Director of the American Leadership Forum – Great Valley Chapter, President and CEO of AgSafe, as Vice President of the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation, and as a legislative aide for the California State Assembly.

    Ms. Wolfe is dedicated to her community serving on the Boards of Directors of the Ag Innovations, Modesto Rotary Club, and Protected Harvest, being an involved member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the League of Women Voters and a Girl Scout for 37 years.  Ms. Wolfe received her Master of Public Policy and Administration from CSU, Sacramento, her Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and is accredited as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).


  • Angelina Ceja, MPA, QAL

    Angelina is the Vice President and Chief Education Officer at AgSafe a non-profit organization providing safety and human resources and practical education to the agricultural community. She provides a variety of training, including equipment, worker safety, human resources and leadership development for supervisors. She has helped develop and expand programs and create new curriculum to address issues and challenges facing the agricultural workforce. For over two decades she has been a member of the non-profit community, serving on a variety of boards.
