Webinar Description:
As an ardent advocate for walking and biking, ITE member, Douglas Halpert has been eagerly involved in multi-modal projects, including Safe Routes To School, Complete Streets prioritization master plans, corridor improvement projects for ADA compliance and bicycle facilities, traffic signal design, and safety audits. Through this work, finding ways to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists safely has always been a high priority in his work.
Cycling was Douglas's primary form of transportation during college, however that since changed. Upon moving to Elkridge, Maryland and living 10 miles from his company's office, he picked up cycling again. Now, armed with 10 ten years' worth of knowledge implementing safe pedestrian and cyclist facilities, it was time as Douglas says to "walk the walk." He took the initiative to document his cycling experiences over one full year to provide a case study of challenges and opportunities and bring first-hand understanding and insight to his work designs moving forward.
