Measure multimodal network physical assets, usage, safety experience, traveler behaviors, and travel patterns by integrating standard data collection tools with emerging tools such as Big Data to define needs.

Learning Objectives:

• Be familiar with the linkage between data and planning uses;
• Describe data collection methodologies (standard tools, uses of Big Data);
• Forecast socioeconomic variables that influence travel demand;
• Compare analysis of transportation data (peak spreading, origin-destination, transit ridership, collisions); and
• Interpret the results of travel analyses using performance-based planning to identify transportation needs across modes and geographic scales.
