Improving the safety of business aircraft operations has always been one of our industry’s top priorities. NBAA’s Safety Committee – in collaboration with Advanced Aircrew Academy, Convergent Performance and Fireside Partners – has developed an assessment-based certificate program that will provide participants introductory-level training on safety in business aviation operations. The program includes testing in six key areas of safety management:

• Safety Leadership
• Safety Policy
• Safety Risk Management
• Safety Assurance
• Safety Promotion
• Emergency Response

After completing the course, participants will be able to effectively manage a business aviation organization’s safety management efforts, including its safety management system (SMS). Successful program participants will receive a certificate and a digital badge to validate their knowledge with their peers. This program is perfect for flight department personnel who have been assigned safety management responsibilities or professionals looking to work in business aviation operations.

Course Details

In 2023, the Safety Manager Certificate course was made available for purchase and completion year-round. Course attendees will have six months from the date of purchase to complete the online training modules and the final assessment to receive their Safety Manager Certificate.

NBAA recommends that participants only enroll in the course once they have the bandwidth to complete it.

Registrants who are unable to complete the program during their six-month subscription will have the option to extend their access for another six months. This extension will cost $275 for NBAA members and $350 for non-members.
