Now available on-demand!
This series will explain what system reliability means as applied to
fire protection engineer and will also summarize practical approaches for modeling fire protection features and how they can be incorporated in the fire risk assessment. It will also provide an overview of elements of corrosion and ITM that can impact the system reliability for fire sprinkler systems. The series will conclude with a live panel discussion of all presenters.
Live Webinar
Presentations included in the System Reliability series:
1) Date:
Wednesday, December 1, Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m. EST
- Presenter: Ken Dungan, PE
- Presentation Title: Fire Protection System Reliability
This session will explain what system reliability
means as applied to fire protection engineer. It will identify when and why
reliability is important to fire protection engineers. It will outline the
design considerations for achieving the desired level of reliability. It will
also discuss optimizing inspection, testing and inspection to achieve and
maintain designed levels of reliability.
2) Date:
Friday, December 3, Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m. EST- Presenter: Francisco Joglar
- Presentation Title: Practical Implementation of Reliability and System
Reliability in Fire Risk Assessment
As a performance-based tool, fire risk assessment
needs to include considerations of fire protection features design and
installed to mitigate the identified fire hazards. These fire protection features are often represented
in the assessment using reliability and system reliability techniques. This webinar summarizes practical approaches
for modeling fire protection features and described how they can be
incorporated in the fire risk assessment.
3) Date:
Wednesday, December 8, Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m. EST- Presenter: Virginia Charter
- Presentation Title: System Reliability in Practice: Sprinkler Systems,
ITM, and Corrosion
There is an expectation from the public that
installed fire protection systems, whether passive or active systems, will work
should the need arise.This includes
automatic sprinkler systems.Corrosion
is a common issue that can cause these systems to fail.Studying corrosion through comparing common
systems and components and the impact of NFPA 25 inspection, testing, and
maintenance will help the industry understand what is best to specify for
design and install.This webinar will
provide an overview of an ongoing long-term corrosion experiment in addition to
understanding the elements of corrosion and ITM that can impact the system
reliability for fire sprinkler systems.
4) Date:
Friday, December 10, Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m. EST
Moderator:
Jack Poole, PE, FSFPE, 2021 SFPE President
