Abstract: Leading Project Controls as a seconded employee on a large Non-Operated Joint Venture (NOJV) project is a challenge. There are several challenges that the employee may face. They must learn how to lead the project controls team under the new organization. Partners can have different project management systems, execution strategies, and role definitions. When following the partner’s project management system, the seconded employee must adapt to a new set of processes and continue to meet the expectations of their own company. One partner may execute many of the project controls functions in-house, whereas the other partner relies more heavily on the engineering service provider. The project control lead must learn to define their role as it relates to the overall project and within their own company. The paper provides the lessons learned as the seconded project controls lead on a large NOJV project.
