Abstract: Almost all aspects of a portfolio of projects are procured or contracted to third party entities. While in some circumstances, organizations may develop a project-by-project supply chain management (SCM) plan that supports the delivery of their single project(s), many organizations do not consider the requirements of a portfolio strategic supply chain management approach. With this said, the authors of this paper provide some recommendations to define and implement a methodology supporting, and therefore improving, portfolio supply chain development and implementation.

Specifically, this paper will provide readers with:

• an understanding of the SCM organizational structure and desired behaviors required to enhance the delivery of a capital portfolio initiative.
• implementation of a strategic supply chain management approach that will assist in improving the delivery of the overall portfolio, providing a value-add to the organization.
