Asthma Management Education (AME-O) For Respiratory Therapists

This online course is for respiratory therapists who teach and care for patients with asthma.

The AME-O course is based on the NAEPP’s “Four Components of Asthma Management” as presented in the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP)'s Expert Panel Report 3 (EPR-3): Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma Summary Report and the 2020 Focused Updates to the guidelines.

Participants who finish the course will learn:
  • Information on assessment and monitoring
  • Control of environmental factors
  • Medicine management
  • Patient education

This continuing respiratory care education is approved for 8.75 contact hours by the American Association for Respiratory Care.

To receive continuing education credit for this activity you must complete all lessons and exams, use the lessons and linked references to answer the exam questions, pass each exam with a score of at least 80%, and complete the evaluation at the end of the course.
