Standing Up for My Health: Being Your Own Best Advocate!

During this program, recorded on April 11, 2013, Patient Educator, Leigh Clark highlights the five pillars of our Standing Up for Your Health program. This program was developed during 2010 with input from many patients, family members, and health care professionals. It focuses on five essential things – we call them the five pillars – that strong self-advocates and powerful patients do to make sure they receive their best care and treatment.

For patients with chronic and potentially life threatening illnesses like aplastic anemia, MDS, and PNH, advocating for your health is critical to receiving your best care and treatment. Although a physician with expertise in treating people with your disease is certainly an important part of your health care team, you and your family play an equally important role.
