Substance Use Disorders and the Law: From High to Homicidal by Dr. Charles Scott


Course Description

This course highlights legal and medical issues related to offenders who misuse substances. Factors distinguishing substance induced psychosis vs. psychosis secondary to a mental disorder will be highlighted. The relationship of alcohol, marijuana, stimulants, opiates, and other substances to criminal behavior will be described. Relapse prevention and treatment will be reviewed. Medication Assisted Treatments will be discussed. Specific bodily fluid testing methods will be noted to maximize chances for early detection and sobriety maintenance.
