Navigating MIPS: The New Quality Program and What It Means for Your Practice

Session Description
The MIPS (Merit-Based Incentive Payment System) is scheduled to go into effect in 2019 and will replace Medicare’s current quality reporting system. Although reimbursement will not be impacted until 2019, data collection begins in 2017. Practices therefore need to quickly become familiar with the program’s key features and develop a plan for effective collection of data.

This course will review the background for the implementation of the MIPS program and its impact on future practice reimbursement. The program’s four categories will be outlined and specific quality measures for each category will be presented. The scoring system and reporting options will be reviewed. Finally, the webinar will address steps that practices need to take to prepare for this new program.

Objectives
Upon completion of the presentation, the participants will be able to:
•Recognize the structure and primary features of the MIPS program
•Identify the MIPS performance categories and the reporting and scoring requirements
•Determine the appropriate steps to prepare your practice for MIPS implementation
