Stefan Friedrichsdorf, MD
Dr. Friedrichsdorf is a pediatric pain and palliative medicine specialist who treats children experiencing acute and chronic pain. He serves as medical director of the Center of Pediatric Pain, Palliative and Integrative Medicine at Benioff Children’s Hospitals in Oakland and San Francisco. He also provides holistic care for pediatric patients with life-limiting diseases and with his team adds an extra layer of support to the care of children with serious illness and their families. Dr. Friedrichsdorf is principal investigator for a study by the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute examining the creation, implementation and results of the curriculum “Education in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (EPEC) – Pediatrics.” He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Lübeck in Germany and completed a five-year residency in pediatrics at Witten/Herdecke University, then completed a fellowship in pediatric pain medicine and palliative care at Children’s Hospital at Westmead and the University of Sydney Australia. He has received many awards for his work. He was medical director of the department of pain medicine, palliative care and integrative medicine at Children’s Minnesota.

Jennifer A. Rabbitts M.D., Ch.B
Dr. Rabbitts is is an associate professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She practices as a pediatric anesthesiologist and pain physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Her NIH-funded research program focuses on assessing and improving pain and health outcomes after pediatric surgery. She is specifically interested in bio-psychosocial risk and resilience factors for delayed recovery, mechanisms underlying acute to chronic pain transition and treatments to enhance recovery and improve long-term pain and health outcomes in adolescents undergoing major surgery. She earned her MD at University of Stellenbosch, interned in Internal Medicine at Livingstone Hospital, was a resident in Anesthesiology, fellow in Pediatric Anesthesiology and master at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Rabbitts is board certified in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
