Every year CPT and ICD-10-CM introduce code changes and CMS initiates policy and reimbursement modifications. This session will present a preview of the key coding changes for 2020 impacting a Pain Medicine practice. Key CMS initiatives for 2020 will be reviewed along with the background information necessary to understand the rationale and goals of these initiatives. This interactive course will also review quality payment programs employed by payers and the impact on Pain Medicine practices. 

Objectives:
Upon completion of the presentation, the participants will be able to:
•Identify the new and revised CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes important for Pain Medicine practices

•Assess the impact of major CMS initiatives for 2020 to a Pain Medicine practice
•Analyze the impact of quality payment programs and other reimbursement models on a Pain Medicine practice

    Emily Hill, PA has 30 years of experience as a healthcare consultant working with medical organizations on coding, reimbursement, and compliance issues. Emily has taught coding courses for numerous health systems, medical practices, and specialty societies including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She currently serves as an advisor to the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians on coding and reimbursement issues. She is a graduate of the Wake Forest School of Medicine Physician Assistant program.
