  • Susan Morris, M.ED, CPCC, ACC

Susan Morris has over 30 years experience as a business coach, organizational consultant and instructional designer specializing in the professional development needs of pharmaceutical R&D scientists, technical experts and functions who partner with R&D. Susan believes that scientists are brilliant scientifically but may not have the same level of brilliance when managing and leading others. Identifying the gap between scientific expertise and "people" expertise is the arena for Susan's consulting and coaching.

In her role as consultant to pharmaceutical global, cross-functional discovery and development project teams, Susan worked with teams in the UK, France, Belgium, Canada and Germany. These team engagements included building new teams, assessing performance of experienced teams, and identifying challenges and solutions for underperforming teams. Susan focused her coaching on strengthening the performance of new team leaders, using videotape as a feedback tool for coaching new team leaders as well as customized 3600 assessments.

Susan has designed and delivered interactive training solutions that improve skills in communication, managing and leading functional groups and global teams. Following the principles of adult learning where adults learn best when they are actively involved in their own learning, Susan's classroom workshops, webinars and blended learning options are enhanced with case studies, simulations, training games, and multiple practice sessions so that participants get theory and practice on their new performance skills.

Susan is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) from the Coaches Training Institute. She has coached pharmaceutical individual contributors, supervisors, managers and senior executives. Her clients’ coaching goals include reaching their fullest career potential and overcoming management and leadership competency deficits.

Susan has consulted to Vistakon, IRI, Aventis, Merck, Astra-Zeneca, Apollon, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, Gencell, GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol Myers-Squibb, Abbott Labs, Wyeth, Pfizer, Sepracor, Sanofi-Aventis, Shire, Novartis, Cephalon, Enzon, Roche and Millennium pharmaceutical R&D, domestic and global product teams. Susan has partnered with Omnicare, PharmaNet, invivodata, Covance and other CRO’s.

In the last six years, Susan has established herself as an international speaker on issues related to women scientists and advancing their careers. She has presented to New York Academy of Science, Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and Association of Women in Science as well as the Drug Information Association and Project Management Institute chapters.
