Dr. Sergio Linares-Fernández is a
young researcher with a strong expertise in vaccines, immunology, and molecular
biology. He graduated on Biotechnology at University of Cadiz (Spain) and
continued the Master Erasmus Mundus Leading International Vaccinology Education
in 5 different European universities and 3 countries (Spain, Belgium, and
France). He pursued a PhD at the Tissue Biology and Therapeutic
Engineering Laboratory in Lyon (France) titled "Optimizing an mRNA Vaccine
platform against HIV-1: from the in vitro transcription design to envelope
protein expression" where he optimized the RNA sequence backbone and
combined different mRNA purification steps to decrease RNA immunogenicity/ PRR
recognition to increase the mRNA translation efficiency in
vitro.
During his Ph.D. he also worked in the RNA formulation into LNPs and performed
the in
vivo proof
of concept for 6 different HIV vaccine candidates. Recently, Sergio joined a
new adventure in the R&D department of Sanofi Pasteur (France) as
RNA Automation Expert at the mRNA Center of Excellence.
