Excellence in Team Leadership

EMPOWERING THE ACADEMIC PHYSICAL THERAPY LEADERSHIP TEAM
Course Description
Many internal and external pressures faced by Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) & Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program leaders compel all members of the team to act together to contribute purposefully to their collective goals and vision; yet too often traditional academic cultures under-emphasize or superficially encourage teamwork leading to siloed work that lacks the richness of deliverables produced collaboratively.

This course will focus on:
  • Development of personal and shared leadership to achieve high performing faculty teams
  • Creating collegial cultures within shared governance of DPT & PTA academic enterprises
  • Building effective stewardship of the DPT & PTA curriculum
  • Integration of academic administration that drives system efficiencies to enable more time and attention to lead people toward a common vision
Through a hybrid delivery format (synchronous, asynchronous and in-person learning) delivered by expert instructors who also serve as team mentors, the course will focus on the application of content that culminates with a leadership team action plan implementation project intended to drive the home your institution’s progress toward excellence in accordance with the ACAPT Excellence Framework.
