Workshop Instructors
Tanya Belcheff DNP, CNM is an Assistant Professor for the Midwifery and Women's health programs at Frontier Nursing University. She has worked in birth centers and teaching hospitals as a full-scope midwife. She also has experience in administration and providing group care in the birth center setting. Tanya is passionate about elevating the status of families by increasing access to care, and providing innovative, inclusive, quality, client-centered care. She is a member of ACNM and AABC

Dorsena Gayle DNP, CNM is the Clinical Transition Coordinator for the Midwifery and Women's health programs at Frontier Nursing University. She has worked in birth centers, collaborative practices, as a hospitalist and teaching hospitals as a full-scope midwife. She also has experience in administration and providing group care in the birth center setting. Dorsena is passionate about decreasing healthcare disparities directly related to weathering and providing innovative, inclusive, quality, client-centered care.

Workshop Overview
This is a hands-on workshop designed for new graduates or seasoned CNMs/CMs needing to brush up on suturing skills. During the workshop, maintenance of privacy, perineal anatomy, indications for perineal repair, administration of local anesthesia, repair of 1st and 2nd-degree perineal lacerations, and post-repair assessment will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced. Skills to be taught and practiced include one-handed knot tying, instrument tie, repair of second-degree perineal laceration/episiotomy, and first-degree labial laceration utilizing the most recent evidence.

Prerequisites 
Prior to the course you should:
1) Refamiliarize yourself with the anatomy of the vagina and perineum
