Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids: Updates in Medical Management

This session will use a case-based approach to familiarize the family practitioner with available conservative treatment options for steroid hormone-sensitive pathologies, specifically for uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and related conditions. By the end of the session, participants will be proficient in the diagnosis and medical management of these common conditions. We will focus on GnRH antagonists, a relatively new class of medications not yet widely employed by general practitioners.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the pathophysiology and natural history of endometriosis and uterine fibroids.
  • Evaluate available conservative treatment options and indications for referral.
  • Discover gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists and define their role in the treatment of hormone-sensitive pathologies.
