The Generalist's Guide: Approaches to the Care of the Adolescent Patient

Objectives

The Approaches to the Care of the Adolescent Patient eModule reviews techniques to promote an optimal adolescent–provider visit, and effective techniques to obtain a confidential reproductive health history from an adolescent patient.

The unit explores:

  • How to disclose the limits of confidentiality
  • How to handle disclosures
  • How to conduct comprehensive contraceptive counseling with adolescents
  • The efficacy of available contraceptive methods for adolescents
Finally, the unit presents four case studies of diverse patients in need of counseling and/or contraception.
