Reproductive health care provides an opportunity to affect the next generation. A thorough and accurate evaluation can help determine a family's risk for a particular genetic condition. Along with additional testing, risk assessment can provide the basis for an informed decision about whether to pass on a known genetic condition to offspring.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Identify patients at increased risk of genetic disorders based on family medical history
• List common indications for genetic testing and/or genetic counseling
• Describe techniques available for genetic screening, diagnostic testing, and therapy
