Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Associated Hyperandrogenism

Objectives

The Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Associated Hyperandrogenism eModule was developed by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The eModule lists the gynecologic, obstetric, and general health risks associated with PCOS and covers the definition, history, and genetic and environmental factors related to polycystic ovary syndrome and describes the criteria for its clinical diagnosis.

The eModule describes:

  • The mechanisms of hyperandrogenism associated with PCOS
  • Physical and laboratory evaluation
  • Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
  • Hypothetical cases which demonstrate how to counsel patients about the effects of PCOS on fertility and reproduction

Up-to-date recommendations are presented as well as management and treatment of PCOS for patients wishing to conceive and for those who do not wish to conceive. Finally, the future direction of PCOS research, including genetic and environmental associations, is discussed.

Physicians can purchase the eModule, access it at the link below, and receive CME credit once they achieve 80% or higher on the posttest.
