Since 2020, ACOG has been offering a web-based Coding On-Demand webinar for obstetrician-gynecologists to provide them with a comprehensive knowledge on accurate coding and billing with relevant coding scenarios, at their own pace.

The courses have been updated and new courses added, presented by physician members of the Committee on Health Economics and Coding (CHEC) and expert ACOG staff. This module includes:

  • E/M Inpatient Coding Updates and Clarifications
  • Pelvic Examination
  • Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)

Topics reflect the frequently asked questions ACOG receives through the Payment Advocacy and Policy Portal.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate proper way of documenting and selecting E/M level of services using the key components of MDM and Time.
  • Obtain knowledge for accurately reporting the new pelvic examination practice expense only code for effective reimbursement
  • Identify when to utilize the hospital inpatient or consultation codes for inpatient E/M visits
  • Understand how SDOH screening can impact MDM or E&M code selection
  • Discuss the common coding mistakes and the risks of inaccurate coding and billing practices
