Course Description: *

This course provides quality improvement strategies and multidisciplinary approaches to care for pregnant and postpartum patients experiencing cardiac conditions in pregnancy including implementing trauma informed training, risk assessment tools and evaluation, facility wide protocol for cardiac symptoms and conditions, multidisciplinary reviews and shared decision making. This course features a comprehensive overview of the Cardiac Conditions in Obstetric Care AIM Patient Safety Bundle and its key elements.

Learning Objectives: *

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Identify strategies to increase recognition of cardiac conditions in pregnancy, peripartum and the 12-month postpartum
  • Describe the necessary components and considerations to appropriate care for pregnant and postpartum people experiencing cardiac conditions
  • Implement strategies for reviewing care provided to pregnant and postpartum people experiencing cardiac conditions for systems learning, and to ensure provision of respectful, equitable and supportive care
