Social Determinants of Health: Importance for #DentalEd Faculty

Description

Social determinants of health (SDH) impact the overall health and well-being of the entire population. It is imperative to educate future health care professionals about the importance of non-medical components of a person’s life, so they may provide more appropriate and effective treatment for culturally, racially and socioeconomically diverse populations.

Join us in this free webinar as we discuss how dental educators can use a conceptual framework of SDH within the dental curricula.

Note: This webinar is a complement to the upcoming Journal of Dental Education article, “An Adapted Framework for Incorporating the Social Determinants of Health Into Predoctoral Dental Education Curriculum.”

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the importance of SDH in assessing overall health.
  • Describe the adapted conceptual framework for incorporating SDH into the predoctoral dental education curriculum.
  • Identify methods to incorporate SDH into dental basic science and clinical dental education curriculum.
