Where to Publish: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Description

Join us for a free webinar exploring the changing landscape of scholarly publishing, including how to avoid the exploitative practices of predatory publishing. Predatory publishers engage in unethical or deceptive practices to make a profit. These publishers make false claims about their identity and provide few, if any, of their promised services or benefits to authors.

Using a “train the trainer” model, attendees will learn to identify and avoid predatory publishers as well as how to educate students and faculty about publishing their research.

Note: This presentation was originally featured at the 2019 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize and develop strategies to navigate changing publication landscapes.
  • Identify attributes that may indicate a predatory journal or publisher.
  • Incorporate scholarly publishing into future student and faculty education.
