During this free webinar, Grace Huang, M.D., and Paul Edwards, D.D.S., M.Ed., the MedEdPORTAL Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor, will be available to answer your questions and explore ways dental educators can publish the results of their teaching activities through this peer-reviewed, open access journal. Jan Mitchell, D.D.S., who has five published articles in MedEdPORTAL, will also share a first-hand account of her experience with the submission process and the benefits of publication.

To earn continuing education (CE) credit for participation in the webinar, the online evaluation must be completed in full by Sept. 10, 2022.   • Grace Huang, M.D.

    Grace C. Huang, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and a hospitalist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston. Dr. Huang has been involved with MedEdPORTAL since its inception in 2005, having served for many years as an Associate Editor and as an Editorial Board Member. She has won many national awards for peer review, publishes extensively in the medical education literature and serves on the editorial boards of Academic Medicine, Simulation in Healthcare and NEJM Journal Watch Hospital Medicine. Dr. Huang holds several leadership roles in faculty development, including Director of the Rabkin Fellowship in Medical Education, Co-Director of the BIDMC Academy of Medical Educators, Director of Assessment for the Center for Education at BIDMC and Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency at BIDMC, overseeing competency assessment.

  • Paul Edwards, D.D.S., M.Ed.

    Paul Edwards, D.D.S., M.Ed., is Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs at the Indiana University School of Dentistry as well as Associate Editor for MedEdPORTAL. He previously served as a full-time faculty member at Creighton University School of Dentistry and the University of Michigan School of Dentistry teaching at the allied health professional, predoctoral, graduate and advanced dental education levels. Dr. Edwards holds an M.S. in Biochemistry and a D.D.S. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from Long Island Jewish Medical Center and an M.B.A. from Indiana University. From 2011-18, he served as Editor for the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and as Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Section Editor of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology.

  • Jan K. Mitchell, D.D.S., M.Ed.

    Jan K. Mitchell, D.D.S., M.Ed., is a graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry. Dr. Mitchell completed her two-year Comprehensive Dentistry Residency in the U.S. Navy—twice receiving their Award for Clinical Excellence. She served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Captain, and served in assignments overseas, on ships and in teaching programs. She is certified as a Master by the Academy of General Dentistry and is a Diplomat of both the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry and the American Board of Operative Dentistry.

  • Sara Hunt, M.A.

    Sara Hunt, M.A., is the Managing Editor of MedEdPORTAL and led its transformation from a repository of educational resources to an online, open-access journal that is indexed in MEDLINE and searchable in PubMed. She directs the Faculty Mentor Program, which consists of a network of educators around the country trained in delivering workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions to prospective authors. Previously, she worked at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
