Out and Safe: Supporting LGBTQ Faculty and Staff in Dental Education

There are many tactics that dental school administrators can implement to create a culturally competent and supportive climate for LGBTQ faculty and staff. Join us for a panel discussion on fostering a sense of belonging and nurturing a thriving environment for LGBTQ dental educators.

This webinar, co-sponsored by the ADEA Office of Access, Diversity and Inclusion and the ADEA Gay-Straight Alliance Section, will discuss, through the lens of LGBTQ dental faculty and staff, their challenges while providing ideas for cultivating a safe, welcoming and inclusive workplace.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify challenges and barriers faced by dental education faculty and staff who are members of the LGBTQ community.
  • Describe strategies that foster an inclusive dental education climate and discuss ways to implement those strategies within your institution to support LGBTQ faculty and staff.
  • Discuss the meaning and importance of allyship and explain ways to be an effective ally.

The American Dental Education Association is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider.

An evaluation form is available to participants after the conclusion of the live webinar. To earn continuing education (CE) credit for participation in the webinar, the online evaluation must be completed in full by Sept. 17, 2023. After completing the evaluation, webinar participants can print and save the CE Verification Form.
