Contributors Isabel Baker, Founding Director-The Book Vine for Children Isabel Baker, Founding Director of The Book Vine for Children, started the business over 40 years ago from her apartment in Chicago, Illinois. Armed with master’s degrees in Education and Library Science, experience as a librarian, and a passion for getting good books into the hands of children, The Book Vine for Children was created to help Early Childhood programs select and experience quality books. Along with the new President of the Book Vine, Amy Vandament, Isabel trains, presents and exhibits at numerous education conferences each year around the country.In 2005, Isabel and Miriam B. Schiffer created and continue to write “The Reading Chair,” a children’s book review column in Young Children, a NAEYC publication. Amy Vandament, President-The Book Vine for Children Amy E. Vandament is president of The Book Vine for Children. A bookseller for over 25 years and a former Barnes & Noble store manager, she specializes in selecting books for early childhood. As a lover of children’s picture books with a BS in Art she maintains a passion for the medium: the marriage of well-written text and great art. Her goal is to expose teachers to quality children’s literature so they can pass the magic on to the children in their programs. Today, Amy and Isabel Baker conduct Literacy trainings for Early Childhood programs around the country. Amy is an active member of NAEYC and the American Booksellers Association.
