Families are sometimes overlooked in the rehabilitation process. Parents, spouses, children and extended family or friends often experience an emotional adjustment to their family member's vision diagnosis. During this presentation, participants will learn about the adjustment process of family members and how to partner with them to maximize outcomes of services.
Participants will:
1. Be able to identify how vision impairment and blindness affect family members
2. Learn strategies for making family members part of rehabilitation/service
3. Learn tips for dealing with difficult family situations
