Join our panel of experts as we explore ethics in 2020. We’ll be looking at ethics through the lens of diversity, inclusion and racial justice;  looking through the lens of wealth and power while soliciting and accepting contributions from individuals and institutions amid heightened social consciousness; dealing with controversial donors; and what ethical challenges have come to the forefront in this current environment.

  • Robbe Healey

    Roberta (Robbe) A. Healey, MBA, NHA, ACFRE, Founding Member of Aurora Philanthropic Consulting, has practiced philanthropic fundraising and non-profit organization management for more than forty years. She is an accomplished fund raising generalist with successful track record of establishing and strengthening development offices. More than 150 organizations have benefitted from her fundraising, strategic planning, board development and training services. She Chaired the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals International (AFP) 2009-10 and completed twelve years of Board service in December 2012. She is Immediate Past Chair of the AFP International Ethics Committee. The Greater Philadelphia Chapter/AFP named her the 2001 Fundraising Executive of the Year and AFP International awarded her the 2013 Barbara Marion Award for Outstanding Leadership. She served as a founding member of the LeadingAge Philanthropy Network and Co-chair of the LeadingAge Philanthropy Cabinet.

    She earned a BS in Education from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts and an MBA from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania where she is a member of the adjunct graduate Master of Public Administration faculty. She was the 75th individual to achieve the ACFRE, Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive credential and holds a Pennsylvania Nursing Home Administrators License (NHA). Healey is a sought after international speaker and presenter, who earned the AFP Master Teacher designation in 2000, the first year it was awarded, and has been designated a Faculty Star by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). A Rotarian, she served as 2013-14 President of the Rotary Club of Greater West Chester Sunrise in West Chester, PA. She chairs the Westminster Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund Board and is a member of the Greater West Chester Sunrise Rotary Foundation Board.

  • Tycely Williams

    Tycely Williams has inspired individuals and institutions to invest more than $100 million dollars in charitable causes. Over the past 23 years, Tycely advanced philanthropy as vice president of development of YWCA USA, as the chief development officer for the American Red Cross National Capital Region, an association director of major gifts for the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, a director of development for two health and human services organizations, the artistic director of two community-based dance studios, and the executive director for a nonprofit organization founded by a Fortune 500 company.

    A cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University, Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with distinguished departmental honors and a minor in Journalism. Tycely possesses an Executive Masters in Leadership from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
    In her spare time, she chairs the Board of Trustees for Monument Academy Public Charter School and volunteers with numerous youth-serving organizations.   • Andrea McManus

    Andrea McManus is the Chair and Founding Partner of ViTreo Group, a Western Canada- based consultancy that specializes in working with charities and nonprofit organizations. Known for her passionate belief in philanthropy and the value of the nonprofit sector in society, Andrea’s work is firmly anchored in cultivating philanthropic literacy and strong governance through all levels of an organization.

    Andrea was the first non American Chair of the international board of AFP in 2011-12. In 2004 she received the Canadian Business in the Arts Award for Innovative Partnership. She was recognized by the AFP Calgary Chapter as the 2007 Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award and in 2012 received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for her contributions to the nonprofit sector in Canada. She has recently been appointed to the newly established Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector for the Canadian government and is a member of the AFP Ethics Committee. She is an AFP Master Teacher and contributing author to five books on nonprofit management, fundraising and global philanthropy.

  • Simone Joyaux, ACFRE, AdvDip, FAFP

    In 2020, Simone began her 33rd year as a fulltime consultant - specializing in governance, fundraising. strategic planning, and management. She works with all types and sizes of nonprofits - focused on building organizational capacity to do stuff better. She presents at conferences all over the world, both pre- and post- Covid. She has written three books and contributed to multiple others.

  • Mark Hefter

    Mark L. Hefter is a taxation, estate and financial planning, corporate and non-
    profit finance, planned giving, major gifts, fundraising strategy, ethics and non-
    profit law and governance expert. He spent over 20 years as general counsel and
    fundraising consultant to numerous non profit organizations,advising donors to
    charity and directing gift planning and major gifts fundraising programs, helping
    raise nearly $1.25 billion in planned and deferred gifts, and over $3 billion in all
    types of major gifts.

    Mr. Hefter also practiced tax and estate planning law (emphasizing charitable tax
    and estate planning and non-profit governance) for nearly 20 years. He was
    counsel to foundations, non-profit organizations and their donors. He practiced with a “Big Four” accounting firm before attending law school.

    Mr. Hefter also has served the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) in
    several capacities: as President of the NYC Chapter; member of the International
    Board; chair of the US Governmental Relations Committee; and member of the
    AFP PAC Board. Currently, he is Chair of AFP's International Ethics Committee.
