    Dan is a certified fundraising executive with more than 24 years of experience in nonprofit health related organizations. He has successfully built and restructured programs to increase capacity and is an accomplished principal and major gift fundraiser, experienced in successful multi-million and billion dollar campaign planning, execution and evaluation. Dan has expertise in executive recruiting as well as developing and coaching staff and serving as counsel to CEO, physician and volunteer leadership.

    Dan has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his career including leadership positions within Health Sciences Development at the University of California, San Diego. During his nine-year tenure there, he oversaw principal and major gift fundraising, annual giving, events and donor relations for the two-campus, 550-bed Health System, School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy. He also served the Palomar Health System Foundation for three years prior to that. In these roles, he developed and implemented new grateful patient fundraising programs including predictive prospect modeling, daily wealth screening and development training for physicians, volunteers and staff. Dan also has established and implemented three-year strategic plans, including the development of metrics for all departments and staff, adoption of the Balanced Scorecard management system and multiple staff reorganizations to reduce cost, eliminate redundancy and create efficiencies.

    He previously held leadership positions for nationally known organizations including Special Olympics, March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.

    Since 2013 Dan has served as Senior Consultant for a national consulting firm based in San Diego. He worked with more than 20 clients nationwide including health systems, community hospitals and children’s hospitals. Dan provided counsel on campaign planning; program assessment and development; major gifts strategies; CEO, physician and Board engagement; staff recruitment and organizational restructuring and planning.

    Shelton Jones has been actively involved in non-profit development and fundraising activities in the Baton Rouge community for the past several years. From 2008 to 2009, she served as Special Events Director at The Academic Distinction Fund and from 2010 to 2014, she served as Capital Campaign Coordinator for The Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation as it became The Emerge Center for Communication, Behavior and Development.

    She has been with Our Lady of the Lake Foundation since 2014, where she served first as Capital Campaign Coordinator and most recently as Major Gift Officer, focusing on a $50 million campaign to build a freestanding Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. She is a 2015 graduate of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s Annual Madison Institute and she received a B.A. in Political Science from Duke University.
