Course Description
This course will cover notable cases from the past two years. This course will also include a brief overview of changes arising from the Criminal and Traffic Assessment Act and the case law portion of the Statutory Summary Suspensions.

Apply principles of caselaw, statutory law, and Supreme Court Rules that have been issues or enacted during the last two years

On March 31, 2017, the Circuit Court of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit appointed Michael W. Reidy as associate judge to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William Ferguson. Judge Reidy has spent his life serving others, both in his career and in his personal life. Judge Reidy currently serves as associate judge and is assigned to traffic matters and misdemeanors in the Downers Grove Field Court.

Judge Reidy has helped people by serving the legal community since his graduation in 1996 from DePaul University, College of Law. He served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office from 1997 to 2006, where his fondest memories include helping victims and protecting abused minors. He later served as First Assistant State’s Attorney for the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office from 2006 to 2010, where he gained invaluable experience by trying nearly 500 cases to verdict.

Judge Reidy has further served on the Sixteenth Circuit Judicial Evaluation Committee, has authored and presented training seminars for local area law enforcement, trained Kendall County Children's Advocacy Center Investigators on interviewing techniques for children, and has given talks to local area students on a variety of legal topics. In 2008, he served as President of the Kendall County Bar Association, and is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
Hon. Athanasios S. Sianis, Circuit Judge, Cook

Athanasios Sianis is a Circuit Judge in the Circuit Court of Cook of Cook County. He is currently assigned to the Municipal Department Traffic Section. Previously, he worked as the Enforcement Division Chief of the Illinois Securities Department and as Special Assistant Illinois.
