Assisting Self-Represented Litigants (SRLs) in the New Normal

Course Description
This course focuses on the practical management and communication techniques to enhance the process of working with self-represented litigants [SRLs]. Hear about SRLs’ own experiences advocating on their own behalf in court and identify best practices in working with SRLs. This course will also outline permissible legal information services all court staff can provide.

As a result of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply practical tips and strategies to handle the unique challenges that can arise in cases involving self-represented litigants [SRLs]
  • Develop effective communication skills to assist self-represented litigants in understanding the expectations of the Court and their opposition 
  • Identify what services are permissible legal information and plan for incorporating that information into your work with SRLs
