Course Description
On February 22, 2021, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed House Bill 3653 Senate Amendment 2 into law as Public Act 101-0652 – dubbed the SAFE-T Act (Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity – Today), which will go into effect July 1, 2021. This will be the second course in a series that will discuss how the Criminal Justice Reform Bill impacts many aspects of the criminal justice system including policing, pretrial court processes and sentencing and prison policies.

As a result of this course, participants will be able to:
- Summarize the high-level changes brought about by the SAFE-T Act.
- Identify major provisions that go into effect July 1, 2021, including provisions related to drivers' license suspensions, specialty courts, sentencing credits, mandatory minimums, and more.
