Course Description: Many books have been written about the inappropriate use of PowerPoint. This course will address the importance of using words and phrases, complementary visuals with text, videos, and other methods for helping the participants accomplish the learning objectives.

Credit Hour(s): 1.25

Learning Objectives:
As a result of this course, I will be able to:

Enhance their continuing judicial education teaching using presentation software
Apply basic design guidelines to their own PowerPoint presentations
Distinguish between effective and ineffective PowerPoint slides

Aaron Burdick

Aaron Burdick is a Learning and Development Manager in the Judicial College Division with the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC), where he manages the pretrial education portfolio for the Supreme Court of Illinois Judicial College and assists in the professional development of justice partner faculty on best practices in adult learning principles.Aaron has over 11 years of experience in justice partner continuing education, and most recently facilitated the foundational education onboarding of the newly developed Illinois Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS). Aaron has also worked nationally assisting justice partners implement effective continuing education curriculum.

Aaron is an active member of the National Association of State Judicial Educators (NASJE) Education and Curriculum Committee, as well as the National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies (NAPSA) Education Committee and Accreditation Committee. Prior to the AOIC, he was a Chief Managing Officer and Director of Court Services in Illinois.
