Laboratory Educator Institute: A Molecular Microbiology Primer for Medical Laboratory Educators

Significant advancements in technology, especially in the field of clinical microbiology, can make it challenging for educators to know what to include in their curriculum. This webinar will provide a guide for the transition of teaching traditional microbiology to the current and future states, as well as tools for implementing this content into lectures and course activities. The recorded webinar is a follow up to The Renovation of Microbiology session from CLEC 2019.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


Upon completion of this recorded webinar, attendees will be able to:
  1. Discuss the evolution of microbiology testing methodologies.
  2. Identify and describe molecular testing methods used in microbiology.
  3. Propose ways to incorporate educational content on molecular testing methods into current curriculum.

This recorded webinar is P.A.C.E. ® accredited. The instruction level for this activity is Intermediate. One  (1) P.A.C.E. ® contact hours and one Florida credit hour in the area of Molecular/Microbiology will be awarded to participants. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® is accepted by the ASCP/ASCLS/AGT Board of Certification and all states, including Florida and California, as an approved provider of continuing education for certification and licensure.
