Laboratory Educator Institute: Writing Instructional Objectives - Part 1: The Quick Start Guide

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to compose instructional objectives for any teaching situation: classroom, continuing education, in-service, etc. The presentation includes examples and practice items to prepare participants for the post-test.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


By the completion of this quick start guide to writing instructional objectives you will:
  • critique given instructional objectives based on:
    • Completeness of the A,B,C,D components
    • Specifying learners as the Audience
    • Observability/measurability of the verb
  • correctly assign given objectives to domains of learning
  • compose instructional objectives for each of the domains of learning that:
    • Incorporate the A,B,C,D components
    • Specify the learners as the Audience
    • Incorporate a measurable verb
  • discuss the principle of instructional congruence
  • value the use of instructional objectives by incorporating them into all instruction you develop and deliver whether anyone else requires them or not

CE ACCREDITATION

This self-study is P.A.C.E. ® accredited. The instruction level for this activity is Intermediate. One and one-half (1.5) P.A.C.E. ® contact hours and one and one-half (1.5) Florida credit hours in the area General (Education) will be awarded to participants. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® is accepted by the ASCP/ASCLS/AGT Board of Certification and all states, including Florida and California, as an approved provider of continuing education for recertification and licensure. ASCLS is an approved provider with CE Broker for Florida licensees.
