Course Description
This educational activity covers indications and limitations of Mohs surgery for melanoma, new developments in surgery for melanoma, including wide excision, sentinel node biopsy, node dissection, metastasectomy, and neoadjuvant therapy in melanoma. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Describe the indications and limitations of Mohs surgery for melanoma.
  • Recognize the indications for sentinel node biopsy and how they may be impacted by tumor genetic expression profiling.
  • Define neoadjuvant therapy in melanoma and list at least two potential applications.

Dr. Miller is an Associate Professor of Dermatology and the Diretor of the Penn Dermatology Oncology Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Hi clinical practice focuses on the use of Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive surgery to treat patients with skin cancers, particulary melanomas of the head and neck and advanced tumors.

Dr. Vetto is the Director of the Department of Surgery Cutaneous Oncology and Professor of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine. He is also currently the Deputy Editor of the Journal of Cancer Education.
