Description

This webinar will review the findings published from a study conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital Dermatology Laser and Cosmetic Center between 2005 and 2021, analyzing the use of non-ablative fractional laser treatment in decreasing the risk of keratinocyte carcinoma development. The session will start with a summary of the key findings from this retrospective cohort study, followed by an expert panel discussion of the publication.

Learning Objectives
Following this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Discuss the potential role for non-ablative fractional laser in keratinocyte carcinoma prophylaxis in patients with a history of keratinocyte carcinoma.
  • Recognize the potential benefits and risks associated with non-ablative fractional laser compared to alternative treatment methods for keratinocyte carcinoma prophylaxis.
  • Describe a plausible biological mechanism in which non-ablative fractional laser may prevent keratinocyte carcinoma development.

Travis Benson, MD
Faculty / Author
Dr. Benson is a PGY-2 dermatology resident at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Benson is a contributing author to four research publications since 2019 and has worked as a Research Assistant at both Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.


Macrene Alexiades, MD, PhD

Dr. Alexiades is a board-certified dermatologist, three-time Harvard graduate with a BA in Biology, MD and PhD in Genetics, and currently serves as Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University and Adjunct Professor at Sigros Hospital, University of Athens.


Roy Geronemus, MD

Dr. Geronemus is a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist, serving as the Director of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York and Clinical Professor of Dermatology at New York University Medical Center, where he founded its laser program and served nine years as Chief of Dermatologic and Laser Surgery.







David Ozog, MD

Dr. Ozog is a board-certified dermatologist and serves as Chair of the Department of Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and is an active Mohs surgeon and Director of Cosmetic Dermatology.

Dr. Tanzi is a board-certified dermatologist. She is the Founder and Director of Capital Laser and Skin Care in metro Washington, DC and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at George Washington University School of Medicine.
