Description

Every day we experience different situations that can affect us personally whether we are at home or at work. We may react differently to these situations when compared to someone else and this is due to many reasons. Whilst one person may cope well with pressure, another person may not be able to deal with that pressure in a similar way – this is because we are all unique.

Human factors refer to environmental, organizational and job factors, and human and individual characteristics, which influence our behavior at work and home in a way that can affect our decisions and actions.

This two-part webinar is for anyone who wants to learn more about human factors and how they can impact our lives, at both work and home. It is especially relevant for NDT inspectors, who need to be aware of the potential negative effects of human factors to make safe and accurate decisions and inspections.

During these webinars, we will explore the role of human factors in our lives, specifically as NDT Inspectors, and what we can do to recognize them and minimize their effects.

Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the two-part webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe what the common 12 human factors are
  • Recognize factors in their own lives
  • Identify how these human factors could negatively influence their behavior
  • Recognize how human factors can negatively affect safe working practices
  • Use mental models to identify a plan of action to minimize the effects of their human factors

He began his aviation career as a teenager cleaning aircraft at a local airport in return for flight time, building his flying experience to qualify as a commercial pilot and aircraft mechanic in the USA. Having spent the majority of his early career as a mechanic and aerial survey pilot Sam moved on to teaching aircraft engineers in the U.K. where he developed a fascination as to how and why things go wrong, leading to incidents and accidents occurring.
For the past 10 years Sam has been the creative Director at Integra Aerospace, a company that creates bespoke safety and human factors training. He has a deep desire to create training that encourages, challenges and empowers individuals to develop a greater level of self-awareness about themselves, with the understanding that the more we know about ourselves, and how external and internal factors affect us, the more likely we are to work safer and reduce the potential for error - the bottom line being that if we work safely we’re going to go home safely to our loved ones.
Sam has an enthusiasm and passion for continually learning and his latest area of study is in behavioural design and positive psychology.
