Please join Association Forum for an intimate conversation with U.S. Representative for Illinois 3rd Congressional District, Marie Newman. Newman's district encompasses parts of southwestern Chicago as well as many of its nearby suburbs such as Oak Lawn, Western Springs and Lockport. This is a great opportunity to orientate a freshman member of Congress on the power of associations in our society. Join us for an engaging discussion on the impact of the association sector in Chicagoland and how associations can collectively mobilize to impact local and state economies through federal advocacy initiatives.

  • Marie Newman

    A freshman member in the 117th Congress, Congresswoman Marie Newman represents Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District, which covers the Southwest Side of Chicago as well as its surrounding suburbs. A lifelong advocate for growing small businesses, protecting health care rights, strengthening our infrastructure and building a greener economy, Congresswoman Newman is the first woman in history to represent Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. In Congress, she currently serves on the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure, House Committee on Small Business, Congressional Labor Caucus, House Democratic Manufacturing Working Group, Democratic Women's Caucus and as the Vice Chair of Communications for the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC). Congresswoman Newman resides in La Grange, Illinois with her husband and two children.

  • Paul Pomerantz, FASAE, CAE

    Paul Pomerantz is CEO of the American Society of Anesthesiologists®(ASA®). He received a Master of Business Administration specializing in health administration from Temple University, after which he served in executive roles at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel). Pomerantz has held CEO roles at the Drug Information Association, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Society of Interventional Radiology, and Clinical Laboratory Management Association.

    Pomerantz is also active in healthcare and professional leadership. In recent years, he served as chair of the Center for Association Leadership (ASAE Foundation) and treasurer of the National Health Council (NHC). He also served on the board of ASAE Business Services, Inc, and the ASA Power of A committee. He currently serves as Board Chair of Association Forum where he has also served as Chair of the Health Collaborative. He is a frequent speaker and writer on topics of association, healthcare leadership, governance, and strategy.

  • Adrian Hochstadt, JD, CAE

    Adrian Hochstadt is Deputy CEO of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He has served in this capacity since 2016 and has performed various leadership and management duties. Previously, he helped create and shape the association’s state advocacy program, working closely with state and allied veterinary medical associations in advocating on behalf of veterinary medicine. In addition, Adrian has served in executive roles at the North American Veterinary Community, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and American Bar Association.

    Adrian earned the credential of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives in 1999. He is an active member and former director, treasurer and president of the Veterinary Medical Association Executives. Adrian is also active with the Association Forum of Chicagoland, having served as chair of political action and public policy committees. He is a current member of the Forum’s Public Policy Advisory Council.

    Adrian has a law degree from Northern Illinois University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He lives in suburban Chicago with his wife Barb and their three children.

  • Lindsay Wagahoff

    Lindsay Wagahoff is the Director of Governmental Relations for the Illinois Chiropractic Society, the largest professional trade association representing chiropractic physicians in Illinois. As a lobbyist for the organization, Lindsay advocates at the State House for the chiropractic profession and its patients, networking with other stakeholders, advising the Illinois Chiropractic Society Board of Directors and Executive Director, and conducting extensive bill review and analysis. Prior to joining the Illinois Chiropractic Society, Lindsay was a staff member with the Office of the Illinois House Republican Leader, working on human services legislation, staffing related committees, and analyzing state agency budgets. She was previously the Executive Director of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation where coordinated economic development efforts for the county. Lindsay is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Hillsboro Area Hospital. She is also currently serving on the FORUM’s Public Policy Advisory Council. Lindsay holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Illinois State University.
