VE-ATPAP-36: Becoming an "AT" Maker McGyver - Rapid AT Problem Solving

Overview

Discover over 50 different "AT" solutions that can be made using 10 different specialty tapes. Learn what tools and materials that you should put into your McGyver Kit to quickly solve challenges, create AT devices, and make adaptations/modifications to Assistive Technology Devices.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify at least 10 different multi-use materials that every AT McGyver should have in their rapid solution kits.
  2. Identify at least 20 different devices that can be made in five minutes or less.
  3. Identify at least 10 different rapid AT resources to help you become an AT McGyver.

Biography

Dr. Therese Willkomm, PhD, is the Director of New Hampshire's State Assistive Technology Program with the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) She is known nationally and internationally for her innovative strategies for creating solutions in minutes. She has designed and fabricated over two thousand solutions for individuals with disabilities. She has presented her work in 42 states, ten foreign countries and three U.S. Territories and has authored over 22 publication including her recent book Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes Book 3: - "Make Stuff and Love People".

Receives salary with my role as Director of New Hampshire’s State Assistive Technology Program with the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). I am a national assistive technology speaker and consultant and I receive a consulting fee as an independent contractor worker and also speaking fees. I am also the author of "Make Stuff and Love People and I receive royalties for the sales of my book. I am an ATIA strand advisors and recieve a complimentary conference registration for this role.
