V-EDU-03: A Model for Increasing Access to AT for Students with Disabilities

Overview

Join us to learn about Tools for Life’s innovative and customized model for service delivery of AT in Georgia. This model has been developed and continues to evolve to focus on increasing access to educational environments for students with disabilities. Multiple projects have been created, piloted and implemented within this model. These projects, pilots and service delivery experiences have revealed some successes and important lessons learned on the provision of AT. The TFL team will share their insights and lead a discussion of how this model provides a possible framework to build upon along with tips for ways to better serve our students with disabilities through appropriate AT.

Session Content Disclosure: This presentation will focus on the Tools for Life’s model for service delivery of AT in Georgia. There will be limited or no reference to other similar models or frameworks.

Biography

Maureen Linden has extensive experience in research project management, standards development, and management and delivery of services to clients. She is fluent in research methodology, experimental protocols, and instrumentation design, analysis, interpretation, and information dissemination. Linden has been active in SAE, ANSI/RESNA, and ISO standards development for over 15 years. She is also proficient in management of services to consumers. Linden has experience in both medical and vocational models of service delivery, conversant with service standard required by CMS and CARF, and caseload management and service provision to clients for 6 years.

Maureen holds an M.S. Biomedical Engineering, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA and a B.S. Electrical Engineering, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA.

Maureen has financial relationships with the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research has been funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Administration for Community Living - part of the Department of Health & Human Services, The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), as well as the Georgia Tech Research Institute.
