V-MWAT-08: How to Account for Accessibility in Web & Technology Purchase and Use Decisions

Overview

In the past few years so many of our interactions have become virtual. Our educational, workplace, and even social environments have a much larger digital component now than in January, 2022. We also rely more and more on third party vendors and partners to help us to provide these growing digital environments. Both of those being true, we need to talk about making sure that we include accessibility in our technology purchase and use decisions. All of our technology platforms need to be as accessible as possible. Join me to discuss how to better account for accessibility in these decisions.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify at least five challenges many organizations face in addressing accessibility in purchase and use decisions.
  2. Discuss at least five tools and approaches that help to address these challenges.
  3. Describe how at least five roles outside of purchasing can contribute to this critical work.
