V-VHT-11: S.O.A.R. into Home Maintenance! No, Low and High Tech for Youth who are Legally Blind

Overview

S.O.A.R. into Home Maintenance! Using no, low and high technologies to maintain your home focuses on the Home Maintenance domain of instruction within a summer residential program for youth who are legally blind. Our lead instructor will cover the spectrum of "no, low and high tech" solutions to maintain your home based on individual preferences, skills, finances and access to instruction. We will explore how an individual with a visual impairment can utilize cleaning products, access label instructions, create tactile and audio labels, engage a circuit box, set up and control vacuums and other cleaning devices, and so much more.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe eight instructional domains of instruction for adapted daily living within a summer residential training program for transition-aged youth.
  2. Compare three levels of technologies available for adapted daily living within your home and living space.
