Description
Many jurisdictions have implemented a facility
utility efficiency program to reduce the energy and in some cases the water
usage in buildings. These programs usually include an energy usage evaluation
based on the USEPA Energy Star rating system. The buildings that do not meet
the jurisdictions minimum requirements may be required to conduct an existing
building commissioning process that is sometimes called a building Tune Up.
Many of these energy programs utilize the building audit procedures in ASHRAE Standard
211, Standard for Commercial Building Energy Audits. This standard includes
three audit levels that have three increasing levels of detail and effort and
thus cost. These audit levels can be related to three levels of EBCx for both
the audit performance and the building retro commissioning or tune up to
improve the building energy performance. This course explains the requirements
for building audits and the relationship to existing building commissioning as
described in industry standards.
