Supervision Workshop Series: Legal and Ethical Issues in Supervision, Presented by Michael Griffin, LCSW, JD, CAMFT Staff Attorney - 6 CE Credits

Workshop Description:
This workshop focuses on several key legal and ethical issues in supervision, including: The legal and ethical duties of a supervisor; scope of competency/scope of practice; The supervisor-supervisee relationship; supervisor/ supervisee boundaries; identifying and resolving conflicts with supervisees; The use of agreements with supervisees; supervision in agency settings; supervision in private-practice; employing interns; advertising and disclosure requirements; handling fees and insurance; documentation and record-keeping requirements; and, termination/end of internship issues. This six-hour course may be used to fulfill a portion of the requirements for becoming a CAMFT Certified Supervisor and provides six hours of continuing education in supervision as well as law and ethics.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of the workshop Supervisors will be able to:
1. Recognize where to find the relevant statutes, regulations and ethical standards that apply to supervision with marriage and family therapist interns, associate clinical social workers and professional clinical counselor interns;
2. Appropriately guide supervisees regarding the legal and ethical aspects of advertising and required disclosures;
3. Appropriately guide supervisees regarding the legal and ethical aspects of confidentiality with minors, couples and families.
