Course Description:
Take this opportunity to refresh and update culturally responsive therapeutic skills in working with Asian American clients and families. This workshop will address specific concerns in the era of community violence and crisis. The workshop will integrate demographic and mental health treatment data with clinical vignettes and case quotes. Dr. Helen Hsu, Psy.D., will focus on providing tools for therapists to develop assessments and conceptualize appropriate and effective treatment. Participants will identify strategies and cultivate resources which can be utilized to support Asian American resiliency in their therapeutic practices.

- Name 3 systemic factors and stressors impacting AAPI clients and families
- Explain the difference between microintervention and culturally affirming approaches to therapy with AAPI clients.
- Identify 3 cultural and community resources relevant to AAPI resilience into treatment planning and considerations.
