Course Description:
In this introductory to advanced level session, participants will learn that after presenting the basic building blocks of emotional intelligence, anger can be understood as a secondary emotion and a cognitive shift occurs. The client is also taught to become aware, in the moment of their anger, to discharge the emotion, and to identify and express the underlying primary emotion without causing harm to self, others or property. This approach teaches self-control, reduces the obstruction of anger in therapy, facilitates more essential dialogue, and supports the client to use this newfound awareness in other relationships.
