Ethics Committee Service Evaluation - For CAMFT's Ethics Committee Use Only

Description:
The Ethics Committee is a diverse group comprised of not less than five (5) nor more than seven (7) members of the association, all of whom shall be clinical members for at least two (2) years prior to appointment. The committee’s job is to ensure adherence with the CAMFT Code of Ethics, assist members in navigating the ethical considerations that arise in the practice of marriage and family therapy, and to support members through educational efforts and endeavors. This committee is does not include a Board of Director as a member, but serves the Board of Directors for a two (2) year term and not more than four (4) terms.

Committee Goals:
1) Maintain the Code of Ethics of the association.
2) Assist members with ethical considerations of the association.
3) Enforce the Code of Ethics of the association.
4) Identify violators of the Code of Ethics of the association and provide principles to the board to take or not take action.

Committee Objectives:
During their term of service, Ethics Committee members will:
1) Utilize their professional expertise to maintain and review the Code of Ethics of the association.
2) Interpret the Code of Ethics to the membership and the public.
3) Conduct investigations of alleged ethics violations.
4) Evaluate and propose recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding members alleged to have violated the Code of Ethics.
5) Write and explain recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding acceptance or rejection of prospective members who may have violated CAMFT's Code of Ethics.
6) Critique and propose revisions, deletions and additions to the Code of Ethics to the Board of Directors for its approval.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
An individual who participates in the Ethics Committee may be awarded up to six (6) hours of continuing education in law and ethics in the renewal cycle in which the participation occurred. Continuing education credit may be granted to a participant one time during his or her two-year license renewal

The amount of CE credit awarded shall be based upon an individual’s documented participation in the Ethics Committee during his or her two-year license renewal

All requests for CE credit must be submitted in writing to CAMFT and a CAMFT supplied evaluation must be completed prior to the award of CE credit.
